Wyndham La Belle Maison

My husband and I are coming to NOLA in Mid August for three nights. This is a newly renovated time share in the Warehouse District and will open in July. I am conserned about safety and parking as the Company can not answer this question at this time. Does anyone have any info on the subject?

Wyndham La Belle Maison

The Warehouse District is one of the safest parts of New Orleans. In fact, along with the French Quarter, it is arguably the safest due to its proximity to the Convention Center and Harrah%26#39;s Casino. The Wyndham is only a few blocks from the French Quarter and is in a good, tourist friendly location. Plus, there are a TON of great restaurants in the area.

Parking on the other hand might be an issue, as downtown/French Quarter/Warehouse District parking rates are steep. However, your hotel is very close to the Harrah%26#39;s casino parking garage, and if you play there for 30 min, parking is free.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! I appreciate the advice about parking. Wehave not been to NO since Katrina. It was always a favorite destination for us aminly for the history and architecture. We have always stayed on Bourbon.

I am a Wyndham owner at this site. It is just opening up in August. I have not visited here yet. You will be some of the first occupants. Located on the corner of Magazine and Gravier, 2 blocks directly behind Harrah%26#39;s Casino. Also 2 blocks west of Canal Street. To put you a ease as to the safety of area, last April President Bush stayed at the Windsor Hotel one block away. Very busy area with street traffic and tourist. Extremely safe.

The hotel/condo provides vallet parking at a garage nearby. I believe it is $25 per day. Not really that bad when you consider nearby rates. I believe that you pull into the first floor of the building from Magazine street. Vallet and check in are inside on ground floor.

Wyndham Resorts have been nothing but first class experiences for me. Looking forward to visiting this site soon.

I appreciate winstonmom%26#39;s question; my wife and I are flying into N/O and for the first time in late Aug. staying @ La Belle with our Wyndham ownership. So far we have not rented a car; can we survive without one and what can we expect the cab fares from the aiport to La Belle to be?

Do not rent a car in NO. The cab fare from airport is a standard $29. About a 20 min ride. Believe there is a group shuttle van also that is cheaper, but it makes multiple stops...no worth it in my opinion.

La Belle is just opening in Aug and one block off Canal Street. There is parking via vallet at $25 daily(?). There is plenty to do in NO without a car.

No one really knows too much about La Belle yet, but I%26#39;m sure it will be a show piece. There are a few small groceries in the Quarter to get goodies for the condo.

I work in the same block as the LaBelle and have been watching its progress. I have not walked around the inside of it, but from the street and looking into the windows it is absolutely beautiful.

Here are some pictures from the builder%26#39;s website...

We stayed at La Belle Maison in mid Sept, 2008. We found the location convenient, although a little deserted/scary. The decor was nice, and the studio room we stayed in adequate. We were surprised to find out that our ';full kitchen'; had no stove! Also, we were asked to sign a statement on check-in that promised no smoking in our room . A visit to the lovely courtyard pool(';dipping'; not swimming) area brought us to the smoking section. This adjoins the health club section, and is immediately adjacent to the hot tub/whirlpool. Needless to say, we did not linger here! Also, despite multiple attempts , at different times of the day, and in spite of several inquiries/complaints, we never could get a HOT shower or tub. Maybe it%26#39;s better to visit a hotel after they%26#39;ve been open awhile.

My husband and I spent a week there in October. Very close to the quarter. We did not rent a car and walked every where or took a cab. Don%26#39;t rent a car you don%26#39;t need one. Just use your common sense when it comes to safety. Also make sure that your room has windows. The one we stayed in did not. It was strange not being able to look outside-although the room was nice-I got to have sunlight!

Just returned from a 3 day weekend at La Belle...FQF Festival. Reserved 4 rooms for my group. Outstanding stay. Going back next year! Rooms without windows are along the inner court...really makes no difference. Place was sold out during our visit...all 120 rooms. Never heard a sound from a soul. A car is really not needed. Located just off Canal Street on Magazine St and Gravier across from Decatur St in Quarter. Two blocks from Harrah%26#39;s Casino. Staff is outstanding and over helpful. Cab fare is $28/2 from airport. Eat breakfast at Mother%26#39;s Restaurant...Tcoultouoplus(sp) and Polydras...two blocks away...outstanding and cheap. Gumbo Shop very good. Deanie%26#39;s Seafood recommended...did not get there. Buy a streetcar ticket from convenient store across street...opens at 10 am. 1 day/$5,3day/$12. WWII Museum is outstantding. Tourist area of NO is very, very safe. It is their life line. Great tourist visit...going back in December.
