Hotel Suggestion

We would like to stay within walking distance of Bourban Street and the French Market. Is that feasible? We%26#39;re not sure if the distance between the two will allow that. If it%26#39;s possible, any hotel suggestions?

It is very possible. Can you give us an idea of your price range and any other preferences (small boutique hotel, grand luxury, just a place to sleep, etc.)?

Mid price range for that area. We don%26#39;t need top end, but don%26#39;t want a slum either. There will be 7 adults and an infant, so definitely need somewhere safe and clean. No preference on type of hotel. We%26#39;re only going to be there 2 days and 1 night.

The French Quarter is not very big, so most hotels are walking distance to these two areas.

But, your best bet might be the Place d%26#39;Armes - good central location and close to both attractions!

I second the Place d%26#39;Armes suggestion. Great location.

I would have to suggest Place D%26#39;Armes as well...it is practically right in the middle point from Bourbon and the French Market:) If you want to check out other options, there%26#39;s always Hotel St Marie, Prince Conti (they%26#39;re around the same price range as the Place and in great locations as well)

Thank you. Having a little trouble with the dates being sold out, so we%26#39;re trying to juggle the other pieces of the vacation around so we can be there the following weeekend. While looking at the hotels and checking rates, a website from.bookit.com keeps pulling up. I%26#39;m not familiar with it. I noticed they have the ';mystery 4 star hotels'; and some other ';mystery'; specials. Has anyone tried that? We%26#39;ve done the mytery/surprise hotel with Apple Vacations and it worked out great. But, I had feedback from others before we tried it. Does anyone have any feedback regarding this site?

Not sure about that website, but in general not knowing where you are booking could be very tricky in N.O. and with an infant, you do want someplace clean! I would book direct with the hotel.

I like the Royal Sonesta myself. Check out this site for hotel reviews and the New Orleans convention and visitor bureau for the best list and links to hotels.

You mentioned the hotel being sold out, make sure to check on the visitor site for dates of conventions and festivals which may be the reason for your troubles and then try to work around them that way. Good luck and enjoy our fair city and the areas around it!

Hubby and I had a good stay for a great price at the Hotel Provincial in Dec; my folks stayed there a couple of years ago and had a tiny room, ours was nice sized-we were in the main building so you might request that.

Hubby stayed at the Bourbon Orleans this past fall on a guys trip and he liked it as well.

The mystery french quarter hotelon bookit is the Astor crown Plaza on Canal %26amp; Bourbon. The 4* mystery downtown is the Holiday Inn on Loyola on the other side of Canal a pretty good walk to the quarter but a really good rate. The hotel provencial is good and good location
