St. Charles Street Car

Hi, everyone

I%26#39;ll be staying in the Carrollton area and believe the way I%26#39;ve read the St. Charles street car route that it currently goes along St. Charles from, is it the French Quarter? to Carrollton and turns around. Is this true?

Is there parking at the Carrollton end, and if so, where might it be.

Also, where does the street car line end in/near the French Quarter?

You are correct on all counts. Currently the streetcar runs from the French Quarter (St. Charles and Canal streets) to the intersection of St. Charles and Carrollton Avenue. There%26#39;s ample street parking in the neighborhood there.

Okay I am really confused. I need some help.

I was just looking at the St. Charles Street Car Map. And it says that the initial boarding area is on Canal Street and Carondelet.

I thought this car rode close to the French Quarter, roughly around the Jackson Brewery. Is there another car, I am not aware of???? Please help I am trying to get to the Garden District with St. Charles Car and I dont%26#39; want to have to walk all the way through Canal Street. I hear this street has some rough parts of it.

Also anyone know what is the best exit to take for the Garden District(Louisiana or Jackson). Also is this a rough area?

There are actually three streetcar lines in operation.The Riverfront Streetcar runs from Esplanade to Julia, along the riverfront side of the French Quarter. The Canal Streetcar runs out to near City Park I believe. The St. Charles line runs as you described.

Also check dates if you%26#39;re going to pull up older posts. The information I gave in February 2008 was correct then but isn%26#39;t now. There are likely to be more infrastructure changes in the coming years as the hurricane recovery continues!

Ok, when the St Charles St Car makes the big turn at Carrolltan, how far does it go? How far is the end from Canal Street?

It goes til about S. Carrollton and S. Claiborne, which is a good distance (8-10 minute drive or so) from the intersection of S. Carrollton and Canal St.
