Hello!
Just wondering who is doing an awesome job in preparing food. Some categories: French, Creole, Fusion, and Sushi? Boiled Seafood? Crawfish?
I lived in NOLA but its been a long time since I was back.
Uptown or downtown, even across the GNO let me know!
Merci!
Hotest chef? Hotest Restaurant?
Too many great chefs in this town to pick just one. And we%26#39;re at a weird time now in that no one seems to be the ';hot chef'; that we%26#39;ve had in the past, ala John Besh, Emeril, John Harris, Susan Spicer, etc.
My food has been great on recent visits to Restaurant August (Besh), Lilette (Harris) and Bayona (Spicer).
Donald Link%26#39;s also great. Herbsaint contines to please people and his newer place, Cochon, is one of my favorites.
Hotest chef? Hotest Restaurant?
Wow! We had a crab tart (special) and pork belly at Herbsaint that was way beyond expectations...I think Cochon is over-priced, but I%26#39;ve always loved Herbsaint.
Friends dined at Gautreau%26#39;s and came back with nothing but praise.
Another one of the hottest restaurants in town is Scott Boswell%26#39;s Stella! in the French Quarter. Frank Brigtsen%26#39;s Brigtsen%26#39;s at the RIverbend is always top notch. Also, Tory McPhail is no Jamie Shannon, but he%26#39;s doing a good job with Commander%26#39;s Palace.
One of my favorite sushi spots is Rock N Sake in the Warehouse District.
If you don%26#39;t mind the short ride from the French Quarter, check out Chateau du Lac on Metairie Road...classic French cuisine prepared by Chef Jacques Saleun.
we were in no recently and loved herbsaint- party of 8 and we all thought it was wonderful.
We really liked Cochon when we were there last week; I didn%26#39;t think it was overpriced at all. There were 4 of us and we must have shared 8 small plates, had drinks and dessert and it was only about $85/couple.
Our biggest disappointment; Luke. I had heard such great things about the restaurant and found it to be really expensive, small portions and the food was not very good.
Uptown, we really liked Boucherie. It%26#39;s new-ish and tiny, but the food and the service was excellent! It is definately on my %26#39;next time%26#39; list!
in addition to loving herbsaint, we went to clancys- my mom (75 nd a world traveler) had the crawfish pie appetizer-
you should have seen the look of glee on her face when she exclaimed ';this is the best thing i have ever tasted anywhere!';
it was so good that she went back 2 nites later and had it again and she said it was just as good that nite.
