My silly question

This will be my first trip to NO. My BF was there ... MANY years ago :) He keeps talking about wandering up and down Bourbon St with drink in hand, people watching, popping in and out of bars for music and refills, etc. I haven%26#39;t noticed a lot of posts that mention this type of entertainment. He did say the ';flashing'; for beads would land a person in jail now. As far as the rest of his memories ... is it still like that? LOL, I need to let him down gently before we arrive if those are things of days past.

My silly question

More or less - you%26#39;ll still see people on Bourbon with cups in hand, and there are a TON of bars and music venues still alive and well. The flashing is pretty much saved for Mardi Gras/really drunk folks, but it%26#39;s pretty lively nonetheless...

My silly question

Last weekend we walked from place to place, drink in hand, listening to music. There were some people throwing beads and asking for a ';flash';. The most flashing I saw was a drunk girl in one bar showing off some body piercings.

Lots of wandering up and down Bourbon with drink in hand, people watching, popping in and out of bars for music and refills, etc. You would have to really be drunk and obnoxious to go to jail for a bit of flashing, though it is possible. There is a lot more flashing when the college kids are partying after a game or on a holiday weekend. In short, it can be pretty much as he described it to you. Have fun. Oh, and lots of weekends there are some nice bikes displayed on St. Peter and Bourbon.

A trip to jail is guaranteed when a guy ';flashes'; his below-the-belt area. Otherwise, a girl can usually get away with a quick lift of the top.

As worldtraveler said, it%26#39;s only drunk tourists who would ever dream of this. Locals are still pretty appalled by it.

JJNOLA is correct on all counts.

LOL, the flashes aren%26#39;t really my thing, that wasn%26#39;t why I was asking. I was just curious if the BF%26#39;s good old day stories still held true.

The walking up and down bourbon street with drinks in hand going in and out of bars listening to music, eating cheap food is still very much alive. As for the flashing it does happen. Some nights are more active than others. Thurs-Sat nights you will see more of it simply because there are more people on Bourbon then. Last year on a Thursday night I must have seen a dozen people flashing and mind you I wasn%26#39;t on Bourbon Street all night.
