Okay I am really confused. I need some help.
I was just looking at the St. Charles Street Car Map. And it says that the initial boarding area is on Canal Street and Carondelet.
Okay, so according to other post, there is a Riverfront street car, which is fantastic. But where does this thing stop at? Does it stop anywhere near the St. Charles Street Car boarding area. Also where doe the Riverfront car board at????
Also anyone know what is the best exit to take for the Garden District(Louisiana or Jackson). Also is this a rough area?
Gosh I know lots of questions. But I really appreciate anyones help. YOu guys are awesome thanks

The Riverfront streetcar goes along the river, so there are various stops along the river from Thalia to Esplanade Ave. You would have to walk several blocks from the Riverfront to St. Charles Ave to where the streetcar line is located. www.norta.com/routes/route.php鈥?/a>
There are many stops to board the streetcar, but to board it downtown, there is a stop at the corner of Canal and Carondelet, where the streetcar makes a turn to get back on St. Charles Ave. www.norta.com/routes/route.php鈥?/a>
Also, there are both nice and not-so-nice areas of the Garden District. Where are you trying to go? If you just want to look around, I would say get down at St. Charles and Jackson and make your way towards Prytania/Magazine St.

Your awesome worldtraveler. This really helps a great deal. Make sense now. Really I just want to have a look around of all the fancy homes in the Garden District. So I guess I will get off at Jackson, like you said.
Does anyone know if the area is locked up. Obviously you can%26#39;t head into someones house. I just want to look at the homes from the outside. Does anyone know if the Degas home is in this area?
I just got back from my 1st trip to NO, and all I did was walk down Bourbon St right down to Canal (easy walk), cross the street and the stop is right there in front of the shoe store.
I didn%26#39;t get off, just rode it to the very end and back. Took about 1h%26amp;1/2 in total aproximately.
No, this is not a gated subdivision if that%26#39;s what you were referring to. The homes are open to viewing from the street level.
Also, the Degas House is located in Mid-City near City Park, which is about a 15-minute drive from the Garden District.
Here is a pretty decent walking tour you can print out that lists various homes/sites:

Wow this is really great. Thanks so much for all the heads up. By the way I plan to head out to Garden District at around 4:00 or 5:00 (depends on Airport Shuttle timing). Does anyone think this may be too late in the day to do a trip like this? By the way that link is a great link for anyone planning to travel to the Garden District. I really want to visit that book shop called the skating rink, sounds fun.
It depends on how long you want to spend in the area because you can%26#39;t see much at night, and you don%26#39;t want to be out walking by yourself late at night either. Personally, I%26#39;d plan a Garden District trip for the day, grab lunch in the area, tour the Lafayette Cemetery (it closes early afternoon), etc.
Keep in mind Lafayette Cemetary closes at 2:30PM Monday to Friday and at Noon Saturdays.
There is a map that accompanies the Frommer%26#39;s walking tour at http://tinyurl.com/d4xm2u. You will probably want to go a little further than Jackson Ave and get off at Washington Ave.
Sorry...link doesn%26#39;t work because of the ';.'; Try this...
