PLEASE help with hotel selection for Mardi Gras 2010

We are trying to get reservations asap for a trip to Mardi Gras 2010.

PLEASE provide advise on the best overall location to parade route and French Quarter, from the following list...Place D%26#39;Armes, Prince Conti, Le Richelieu, Bourbon Orleans, Iberville Suites, Quarter House on Chartres St., and Hampton Inn on Carondelet.

The Marriots are already sold out, so we need to get some reservations quickly. Even though I%26#39;ve been to New Orleans before, I don%26#39;t know which hotel to select for the Mardi Gras. Please reply asap. I appreciate it! Thanks!

I doubt the Marriotts or any other hotel are actually sold out. My guess is that rooms aren%26#39;t yet for sale or they%26#39;re tentatively blocked for a group. If you like Marriott, call the property directly.

Thanks for your response. I have called several times and have been told that there%26#39;s no availability for either hotel in the French Quarter area.

I personally like to stay in the Garden District (more family friendly). If you want to be near Bourbon Street, I would look into Iberville Suites. It gets good reviews and is connected to the Ritz Carlton. We did stay two years ago at Marriott Renaissance Arts Hotel in the Warehouse District near the Quarter and really enjoyed it. We had our children with us so we were not walking to Bourbon Street but some spectacular night parades passed right out in front of the hotel. That location is still fun and would give you a break from the craziness on Bourbon Street. Just my two cents worth!

We have stayed at both the Price Conti %26amp; Iberville Suites. The service at both can%26#39;t be beat %26amp; both locations were easy to navigate. I found the Iberville to be a bit more comfortable but the Prince COnti has more of a local flare. You can%26#39;t go wrong with either!

Out of that list, I%26#39;d probably go with the Iberville Suites, since it%26#39;s close to the action on Canal St. If you have Hilton Honors points, then try the Hampton Inn or the Hilton on St. Charles, which is right on the parade route!

Thank you for your advise!! Unfortunately, I just found out that the Iberville Suites are full for Mardi Gras 2010 as well. Frustrating! Now I%26#39;m looking at the Prince Conti or Hampton Inn. Hampton Inn does have queen instead of double beds, and also has a free breakfast. Any comments on one of these hotels over the other? Thanks again!!

Thank you! The Hilton that you mentioned is all booked up as well. I%26#39;m down to Prince Conti, Hampton Inn, or Place d%26#39;Armes. Help??

I would go with the Hampton Inn on Carondelet. We had a great time there for Mardi Gras 2007. Decent price, nice breakfast, and close to the parade route.

I got curious since I%26#39;m really amazed that so many properties are full at this point. I searched kayak.com and found lots of availability from various sources but not Iberville Suites. Did you call them directly? Good luck. I know how frustrating this can be!

Thank you for your suggestion (Hampton Inn). I have heard good things from others about this hotel. So...I booked it. :)

Thanks to all others that have written in to help. I appreciate it.
